Catholic Charities Family and Community Services

The OCFS Permanency Resource Centers provide essential support services for adoptive, kinship, and guardianship families in New York, helping them navigate challenges and access necessary resources.

Overview of Permanency Resource Centers

The New York Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) has established Permanency Resource Centers (PRCs) to assist families formed through adoption, guardianship, or kinship care. These centers aim to prevent disruptions in placements and provide support to families, ensuring that children can remain in stable, lovng environments.

Services Offered

Support for Families: PRCs offer a variety of services tailored to the needs of adoptive, kinship, and guardianship families. This includes referrals to local practitioners, counseling, as well as connection to Non-Parent Caregiver Temporary Assistance.

Resource Connection: Families can access resources such as parent training, peer support, mentoring, and respite care to help them address challenges that may arise after a child’s placement.

Eligibility: Families with children under 21 who are adopted, in guardianship, or under kinship care are eligible for services. This includes those living in specific counties (as of August 2026, those counties are Monroe, Schuyler, Steuben, and Wayne).
