Wayne MOST Workgroup

1. Youth feel safe and connected to their community.

 By 2031, increase the percentage of students who report having activities they want to do in school, and who have someone (including afterschool staff) they can go to for help, by 10%, as measured by the EYS. The workgroup will do this by increasing attendance at out-of-school events, connecting students with success coaches or navigators and with clubs and sports, and raising community awareness of out-of-school activities.

2. Youth can manage their emotions and behavior.

By 2031, increase the percentage of students who report they can calm down or manage their emotions when upset (EYS) by 5%, and reduce the percentage of students with one or more disciplinary referrals, by 10%. The workgroup will do this by training OST staff and volunteers in youth development or social emotional learning practices.

3. Youth are building skills and confidence for their future.

By 2031, increase the percentage of students who report learning things in programs they will use later by 5%, as measured by the EYS. The workgroup will do this by increasing the number of youth who complete OST programs and take part in the 8th Grade Career Carnival.

4. Youth are healthy and physically active.

By 2031, increase the percentage of students meeting recommended physical activity levels and reporting healthy eating by 5%, as measured by the EYS. The workgroup will do this by offering health, nutrition and physical activity sessions through Wayne MOST partners and supporting completion of multi-session series.
